Do Stocks Outperform Treasury Bills?

The chart above shows gold “outperforming” stocks, but note the time period. 1971 was when President Nixon unhinged the dollar from gold.  Be careful when assessing performance over a set time period.

  2. Just got an email that asked me to compare SPY to and RSP (equal weight S&P 500) over the course of 2017.

    What I found was that, if you take out Facebook, Apple, Netflix and Google, the remaining 496 stocks will be down over $250 billion YTD. So today we are seeing returns skewed by just a few stocks.
